This year's Padma awards saw four Padma Vibhushan awardees.

1. Ms. Prabha Atre

Prabha Atre is an Indian classical vocalist from the Kirana Gharana. She is currently one of the senior vocalists in the country representing Kirana Gharana. She has contributed to popularizing Indian classical vocal music at the global level. She is competent in various musical genres such as Khayal, Thumri, Dadra, Ghazal, geet, Natyasangeet, and bhajans. She has been awarded all three of the Padma Awards by the Government of India.


2. Shri Radheshyam Khemka

Shri Radheshyam Khemka was born in the Munger district of Bihar. He was a journalist and editor of 'Kalyan' published by Gita Press for 38 years. He was also the Chairman of the Gita Press Trust Board. He was posthumously awarded the second-highest civilian award the Padma Vibhushan in January 2022.


3. Gen. Bipin Rawat

General Bipin Rawat was an Indian military officer who was a four-star general of the Indian Army. He served as the first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Indian Armed Forces from January 2020 until his death in a helicopter crash in December 2021. Before taking over as the CDS, he also served as the 57th Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee (Chairman COSC) of the Indian Armed Forces as well as 26th Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Indian Army. He was posthumously honored with the Padma Vibhushan in the 2022 Republic Day honors list.


4. Shri Kalyan Singh

Shri Kalyan Singh was an Indian politician and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He served twice as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and as a Member of Parliament. He was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh during the demolition of the Babri Masjid in December 1992. He was considered an icon of Hindu nationalism, and of the agitation to build a Ram temple in Ayodhya. He was posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan in January 2022.
