The Thomas Cup is an international badminton competition among teams representing member nations of the Badminton World Federation (BWF). It is the world badminton team championship for men. The Championship has been conducted every two years since 1982, except being conducted every three years since the first tournament held in 1948–1949. It is one of the world's most famous and prestigious badminton events held in terms of player and fan interests.

Of the 30 Thomas Cup tournaments held from 1948–to 1949, only six countries have won the title. Indonesia is the most successful team, having won 14 times. China trails Indonesia with 10 titles, while Malaysia has won 5 titles. Japan became the fourth country to win the Thomas Cup in 2014. Denmark became the first European and the fifth nation overall to win the Thomas Cup in 2016.

India became the sixth country to win their maiden Thomas Cup title in 2022 after beating Indonesia. Kidambi Srikanth also won six consecutive matches which is the best performance by any Indian in Thomas Cup.
